Jason specializes in writing evocative orchestral score for film, television and theatre.

He is also adept at writing electronica and fusions of world, jazz and dance music styles, with finalist and higher placings for such pieces (including a Grand Prize for Jazz) in the Unisong, UK and John Lennon Songwriting Competitions.

He is very sensitive both to the needs of the media that his score will accompany and to the vision of directors and producers with whom he collaborates.

With a well-developed talent for writing synthesizer- and sample-based music and much skill and experience in scoring printed music for live performance, Jason has been able to develop the ability to compose in a wide range of styles. His works have been performed by full orchestra, chamber ensembles, jazz and funk groups, and choirs.

Jason has succeeded in leadership roles at major theatrical events, including the role of chief composer for the Artist Program of the 2005 Canada Summer Games where he helped design and stage a creative theatrical event involving over fifty emerging artists from across Canada. Jason is used to taking responsibility in large projects.

Jason was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1972. In childhood, he studied piano and organ performance. At Queen's University he received an M.A. in music psychology, producing a thesis on the cognitive representation of musical harmony.

He also studied computer programming in college, and has spent time programming for a Saskatchewan-based biotech firm in addition to composing. He is highly technically capable with PC's both generally and in terms of audio software and hardware. He has also developed a familiarity with Mac OS.

Jason has composed since the late 1980's and has studied music theory and composition under noted Canadian composers Norman Sherman, David McIntyre, and Elizabeth Raum.
